Between The Trees 2024

When I first discovered *Between The Trees* a few years ago, it quickly became one of my favourite festivals. Nestled in the peaceful woodlands of Merthyr Mawr in South Wales, the festival brings together local food stalls, hands-on workshops, inspiring talks, and folky music from the likes of Sam Kelly, and Tidelines.

Created by educators Andrew Thomas and Dawn Wood, Between The Trees is all about reconnecting with nature through a thoughtful blend of indie folk music, art, and spoken word. It feels like more than just a festival—it’s a little community where everyone shares a curiosity about the world around us. Set in Merthyr Mawr National Nature Reserve, surrounded by quiet woods, rolling dunes, thriving wildlife, and the coast just beyond, it’s hard not to feel at home here.

Andrew and Dawn created the festival after noticing a growing disconnect from nature, especially in their students but also in society. Our busy, screen-focused lives mean less time for real connections, conversation, and those refreshing moments outside that do so much for our well-being.
